I love learning: new games, new languages, new places. Here's a little more about the things that keep me curious.
01 Why board games
Terraforming Mars, my #1 game, mid-play.
I love board games for a few reasons. First, they get friends around a table, in person.
Second, the rules never change, which makes every game more interesting. The more I play, the more I notice the small details that help me do better next time.
Third, most rulebooks are badly written. Teaching a game to someone who would never have the patience to spend hours reading the rules, and then watching them enjoy it, has brought me a lot of happiness. I can teach more than 150 games.
02 Six months in Vienna
I spent six months studying in Vienna, Austria, at WU Vienna University of Economics and Business. I learned the Austrian way of teaching and learning, learned to waltz, and made international connections I've kept for over two years.
03 Always learning a language
I'm working on German (A2.1) and Mandarin (HSK 1 level). For Mandarin, I built my own spaced-repetition flash card deck so I could add each week's lesson in minutes. My Chinese name is still pending.
